SEO or SEM, what’s the difference anyway?
Search engine optimisation (SEO) and search engine marketing (SEM) can be hard topics to distinguish between for the newcomer and furthermore make the decision of which path to take even harder.
Both processes are tied at increasing the visibility of your site on search engines and ultimately bringing more sets of eyes to your business. Both aspects have their merits and work well together as part of a well rounded strategy.
In short, the key difference is this.
SEO is the process of optimising one’s site as per the conditions for Google’s algorithm so that the site appears as high as possible on the results returned from a search engine. SEM is a method of increasing a sites visibility in search engines via paid methods such as advertising with Google Adwords.
